At Helping Hands Childminding we offer an intimate, home from home setting. We are working at extremely low ratios, we have 3 Educators working with a regular number of 10 children per day. We have a lovely playroom inspired by ‘hygge’ filled with open-ended resources
Hi, I’m Hannah the Lead Educator and owner here at Helping Hands Childminding. I have worked in childcare for over 8 years, during this time I gained a Level 3 and 5 qualification as an Early Years Educator and to support children with Communication and Language in the early years. I also have a wide range of experience from working in a nursery setting, as a private nanny and now as a childminder. I am also now a Mummy to my lovely little boy. I started Helping Hands with a vision of being different, I wanted to come away from brightly coloured over stimulating environments, busy routines and spending ridiculous amounts of time completing paperwork instead of spending vital time with the children. I wanted to simplify and slow down routines, create a neutral home like environment which makes children feel, relaxed, calm and happy. I wanted to ensure the children are always our priority, reducing paperwork to allow our educators to have the necessary time to play, build relationships and supporting the children’s learning and development. I wanted educators to be intentionally teaching during child led moments rather than waiting for planned activities. I wanted to offer rich learning activities and experiences, ensuring children have hands on learning experiences in the real world. I wanted to offer a curriculum that is tailored to each child’s individual needs and which supports the children to learn key life skills. I have seen my vision come to life through Helping Hands Childminding and I am extremely proud of the high quality care and education we are offering and the impact we are seeing on the lives of our little ones and their families.
Hi, my name is Georgina (Georgie) and I have worked in childcare for over a decade. I started as an apprentice in a lovely nursery which had 60 acres of woodland and a farm. It was there I gained outstanding experience which lead me to a level 3 room leader position. This opened up the door to complete my level 3 forest school leader qualification and we launched a forest school holiday club, I loved being apart of this as I believe outdoor learning is a vital part of child development. In December 2021 my partner and I moved down here to beautiful Devon and I began working in a large busy nursery as a Deputy Manager. During the summer of 2022 we were gifted with our daughter, since becoming a Mummy I have naturally gained much more parental awareness which has refined my view on typical nurseries and how they operate. More often than not they are rather fast paced and tend to be busy. This led me to look for alternative childcare for my own daughter which is when I heard about Helping Hands, I was immediately compelled to contact Hannah in regards to her child centred approach. The children are all so happy and thriving and I am truly excited to start this new role in such a wonderful setting alongside my own daughter.
Hi, we are Shirley and John (Hannah's parents) and we love sharing our home with Helping Hands Childminding. We love being able to provide the children with a fantastic space to help them learn, grow and have lots of fun! Shirley has experience leading various children's holiday clubs and she was a school governor at our local Primary School.
